I hate to say I told you so....

These Dell Inspirons that the company president INSISTED on buying are WORTHLESS! We need to use a PCMCIA cellular modem with them, and they don't have PCMCIA slots!

The Latitude laptops that I specced out? They've got a PCMCIA slot, of course.

I'm feeling so freaking smug today I could pop.

Inspirons don't have PCMCIA slots any more? Mine, which I got two years ago, does.

No, they've switched to the ExpressCard. Interestingly, the opening is the same size and shape as a Type II PCMCIA slot, so you can actually insert the card about half-way.

hehe! Reminds me of some years back when a friend requested PCMCIA ethernet cards be ordered for a bunch of notebook computers and his boss goes "This is silly. I will drive to San Jose myself and pick them up for far cheaper at Fry's!"

And he came back with a bunch of PCI cards. :)
