Eat Mor Chikin

The first Chick-Fil-A in San Diego County opened today in Oceanside, and since I had some coupons, I stopped in for breakfast.

Meh. It's decent chicken, a bit better than KFC, but not as good as Popeyes, IMO. Terribly salty. Prices (at least for breakfast) aren't bad, cheaper than McDonalds, but not as cheap as Jack-In-The-Box. And it's conveniently on the way to work.

They tend to use actual meat with light breading in their nuggets, too. The downside is that the nuggets are just that - marble sized.

They're also closed on Sundays and owned by some extreme right-wing nutjobs who donate massive sums of money to republican causes, operation rescue, anti-gay groups, and the like.

You mean the Mormons. Yes, Chik-Fil-A is owned by a Mormon family here in Georgia. I agree with the Captain, though. Popeyes r0xx0rs!

If only Popeyes would offer crayfish more often. (I'm hooked on the stuff! Hurray for mudbugs!)

So's my mate. She's from Louisiana, and she's obsessed with our trip there this spring, so she can get me to try "real" boiled crayfish, in their location of origin. She says nowhere else can get them quite right.

Todai often has pretty-good crayfish on their buffet. All you can eat.

The restaurant did seem a little... creepy on the inside. I got this weird 1984 conformity-is-paramount vibe. And something about cows trying to sell chicken is just too weird.

And their parking lot is annoying. Instead of merging their parking lot with the WalMart parking lot, you have to pull through a really narrow driveway and park in back in a hidden area.

I prefer Popeyes too, especially their spicy chicken. Chick-Fil-A always seemed a little bland to me, but I think they're okay for breakfast.

Ah, Chick-Fil-A ... such memories.

My very first employer. :)
