That was a pretty wild night last night.  I haven't seen winds that strong since Tropical Depression Norman hit Southern California back in the 70's.  Plattsmouth Airport reported wind gusts of 62 MPH.  The maple tree next to the house lost a really large branch (5-6 inches in diameter), but it didn't fall on anything.    A large, dead tree blew over and into our perimeter fence, taking out the upper tier of wire.  The lower tier appears to still be intact; fortunately we don't have any jumping animals here at the moment.

Over the course of the night, we had a tornado watch, flash flood watch, severe thunderstorm warning and a high wind advisory.  There were no tornadoes in this county, but there were quite a few tornado reports in surrounding counties.

From the forecast it sounded like everything would be leveled, then additional tornadoes would scramble the wreckage every couple hours.

Good to hear the damage was minor.

I was expecting the news to start reporting on towns flattened, like they've done nearly every week for the last two months, but nothing came up. Pretty exciting (and scary)!

Fortunately, it looks like the worst was an EF2. There were a lot of tornado reports across Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa, however.
