These prices are a joke, right?

I was in "Best" Buy today, and noticed the prices on a couple items.  For a Geek Squad brand 8G USB drive, they wanted $80.  I just paid $20 for a Sandisk 8G drive at Costco (although that was on sale, but the regular price is still just $30).  And for a 2 Gig PC-5300 DDR2 SODIMM memory module, they were asking $190; the street price is normally $40.

Do they really think their customers are THAT stupid?  Or ARE their customers really that stupid?

Beast Buy makes a lot of money, so too many pony up.

Some of their store brands are pathetic. Dynex 400W power supplies can't reliably do 200W, and they used to charge $100 for them.

And then there are cable prices...

Store's prices are inflated: Yes
Store expects customers to pay stated price: Yes
Store assumes customers are stupid: Yes
Customers are stupid: Yes
Outcome: Costs of living increase

Of course. Best Buy is for people who don't shop online. The last time I checked prices at Best Buy was for a cigarette lighter power adapter for my cell phone. They had it for $20. It was $4 at Meritline.com. Big difference!

I was wondering where Overstock.com gets those items that are "80% off" and still more expensive than anywhere else.

I miss the days when you could walk into a store and haggle a deal on something.
