Any ideas for a high-speed point-to-point network connection? I need to connect a trailer at a construction site to the main office. Currently the trailer has ADSL and the office has a T-1 and we're using a hardware VPN to connect the two, but the connection is terribly slow. The folks in the trailer need access to a database here.

The trailer is about 50 miles away, so wireless is out of the question.

So far I've been looking at multiple T-1's or even a fractional T-3. Is there anything else I should be looking at, especially something that doesn't cost a small fortune?

Wireless not so outta the question

If the copper exists, maybe multiple bonded DSL? To the user, it looks like a single fat connection, aggregating each line's bandwidth transparently.

Or, if they're line of sight to a location that can get good DSL directly (up to 8Mbps with "standard" ADSL, 18Mbps or so with ADSL2+, depending on the telco, and distance, especially with the latter), maybe a pair of high-gain antennae and 802.11g kit.

ADSL and VPN should be more than adequate for this application. Are you sure the slowness isn't caused by the database software itself? Or the PC in use at the trailer?
