Everything you need for a perfect date night... movie tickets and lube
PINKY!
Goat face
Horns are tasty!
Closeup of a katydid
Looks like Disney has gotten into the adult novelty business.
This picture of a metal roof makes my eyes go all woogey.
Just taking a break
And here I've been giving hugs away for free like an idiot.
Valve math fail
They showed me the Car Fox
Now there is a vehicle with ground clearance!
I love this license plate!
Sheep and bears
May. 20th, 2011 07:06 pmOur baby goats like to climb all over everything. They've climbed on the dog houses, into trees, on top of my roommate's car, onto the deck table, but they particularly like to jump onto the ram's back. Nice Uncle Ram loves giving the kids a sheep-back ride.
I've been trying to get a photo of them, but it seems fate keeps conspiring against me. Either I didn't have a camera with me, or it was too dark to take a useable picture. But Saturday, I finally managed to catch them at it with a camera and enough daylight. So I pulled out my pocket camera... and the battery was completely dead. No problem, I carry a spare for just such an occasion... and it was dead. I ran to the car nearby and grabbed by other camera... which also had a dead battery... and a dead spare. Two cameras, four batteries, all useless. I snapped a photo with my cellphone, then ran all the way to the house and dug out my big camera. The battery was full! Yes! Ran back to the barnyard... but the goats were all done playing.
At least the cellphone photo came out semi decent. Clicky to zoom in.

Costco has HUGE teddy bears, 52 inches (132 cm) tall, for just $30! (I think that measurement is seated, they appear to be more like 66 inches (168 cm) head to toe) They come in two colors, dark brown and tan.

Lots of pics
Feb. 15th, 2011 02:43 pmAssorted pics I either forgot to upload or uploaded to Twitpic but not here.

The antenna I put up for my SO. I wish I'd done more research; while this antenna works well, it's really overkill. Separate VHF and UHF antennas would have worked better.

Saw this car with a tiger tail at the Omaha Costco.

Taking the Plattsmouth Bridge across the Missouri River. These photos were taken back in October when I drove to Iowa to inquire about a marriage license.

After visiting the Mills County Courthouse, I stopped at the nearby Mile Hill Lake at the foot of the Loess Hills. I walked around the lake, across the dam and up into the hills. I used to go on these kinds of hikes all the time, but it's been a while and I'm a bit out of shape.

Christmas 2009, I bought stockings for my SO and my roommate. Not just any kind, but stockings that were appropriate to their "furry preferences". But I had a very hard time finding anything appropriate for me. I finally found this stocking with rabbits that was perfect.

Birds are made from bird seed!

Have you given your dog a wet nose today?

Engrish is my favorite language.

One of my relatives! It's a cute little kids book about packrats.

A Folkmanis Pack Rat puppet.

I've not had much luck getting pictures of the birds. Every time I try to step outside to get a shot, the more colorful birds fly away.

Oct. 11th, 2010 06:33 pmIs it me, or does this kind of look like one of the rabbit masks from Bioshock?
Get a brain, Morans!
Walmart brand dog food? It's not so good, actually.
The soy has turned brown. The farmers can't start the harvest until the soy beans are sufficiently dried.
Center pivot irrigation is fairly rare around here because this area usually gets enough rain for growing corn and soy.
A long pipe, equipped with sprayers and supported by wheels is connected to a water supply at one end. An electric motor slowly drives the pipe around the center pivot, watering all the crops in a giant circle. Some center pivot systems are a quarter mile (400 meters) in length. You can easily spot center pivot irrigated fields from the air; they appear as giant circles.
Rudolph out for a drive. The next day I was talking with a Costco employee who mentioned she saw someone driving around with a Rudolph plush in their car. That was me! :)
Now it's a party!
Goatmobile and other photos
Apr. 16th, 2010 11:30 pmGoatmobile! Clicky for full size goats.
Gotta love living in a rural area. Someone joked to the driver of the pickup, "I see you don't let your girlfriends ride up front."
Cadbury Clucking Bunny plushie I picked up before Easter. When you squeeze her paw, she clucks like the bunny in the Cadbury cream egg commercials.
This bug got stuck in the twists of a compact florescent light bulb and dessicated. It was extremely brittle when I removed it, as evidenced by the broken leg. I think it's some sort of crane fly.
The tire that blew out on my SO's car. You can see the spot where it blew out at about 8 o'clock on the tire.
You're sure of a big surprise....
Dec. 19th, 2007 02:46 pmWhile in the bath today I had this weird thought. Imagine the guy who does the horror movie trailer voiceovers (Don LaFontaine?) reading the words to the Teddy Bears' Picnic:
If you go out in the woods today...
You're sure of a big surprise...
If you go out in the woods today...
You'd better go in disguise....
For every bear that ever there was...
Will gather there for certain, because....
Today is the day the teddy bears have their picnic.

Nov. 24th, 2007 07:10 pmThis is "a 20% chance of snow", falling from the sky and all over the lawn. (This was Wednesday, by Saturday most of the snow has melted, but there are still a few small patches)
Donation box seen at a local Pamida. The viewer is left to his imagination.
An old picture of my engine. Removing the "home plate" resonator frees up a few extra horses but leaves a gaping hole exactly the size of a regulation hockey puck. I eventually replaced the intake elbow with one from a Camaro, which lacks the resonator hole, so I don't have a bunny under the hood anymore.
My computer tool kit. It started life as a Belkin 65-piece tool kit acquired while I was working at Computer Renaissance. I have since replaced almost every tool in it. I think the only original parts left are the vacuum & attachments, the anti-static wrist strap and the sockets. This kit contains 95% of the tools I have ever needed when working on computers. If I could add a small multimeter, the kit would be pretty much complete.
All mimsy were the borogroves
Apr. 1st, 2007 04:47 pmMy SO took me to see The Last Mimzy today. Best movie I think I've seen in a long time. Most movies now days are so predictable, some I can figure out the ending in the first few minutes and most I've gotten the solution by the first 1/2 hour. Mimzy was different. I didn't figure out who the Mimzy was or where it came from until fairly near the end. I like that.
There need to be more movies about plush rabbits.
Music by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame.

The paws that refreshes!
Nov. 8th, 2004 06:33 pmStopped at Wal*Mart today, and they actually had the paw slippers I've heard so much about. And in my size! Unfortunately, all of them were hanging from the ceiling, a good 8 feet above my head. so I had to get an employee to find a ladder and retrieve a pair.
But I've got a pair of fluffy paw slippers now! Yay!
