We needed to pick up a few things at the supermarket so we stopped in the local Hy-Vee.  I have a bad habit of walking up and down all the aisles at a supermarket, even when I'm only picking up a few specific items.  This time, it turned out to be a Good Thing.

First I found they had bacon on sale for $1 a pound.  That's a pretty good price, usually it's around $2 a pound or so.

Then I discovered they had a 50% off sale on Hy-Vee brand vitamins and supplements.  I've got at least 3 months worth of vitamins on hand and another month or two worth of fish oil capsules,  but I decided to stock up anyway.

While they were ringing up my purchases, I noticed the fish oil capsules rang up at full price, not the sale price.  I pointed this out to the clerk and he called a manager.  He checked around and found that it should have been on sale too.  Apparently the store has a scan accuracy guarantee, because the manager gave me the $25 bottle of fish oil caps for free!

Ingredients:

Water
Instant Bouillon
Meat (optional)
Frozen or canned vegetables
Pasta

If using meat, cut into small pieces and cook throughly.

Pour everything (except pasta) into a stock pot and bring to a boil.  The soup can be kept at a low simmer until almost ready to serve  Add pasta last and boil for length of time indicated on package.  (The pasta will keep soaking up liquid until it becomes a soggy mess, so it needs to be added as close to serving as possible.)

Serve!

Yeah, I know, it's a "duh!" recipe, but it's actually pretty healthy, quite tasty, and relatively cheap.
