Everything is better without Garfield
Aug. 6th, 2009 07:10 pmWent to Borders this afternoon. The dead tree version of Garfield Minus Garfield is normally $12, but I had a 40% off coupon and the $5 gift certificate I earned last month, so that dropped the price down to $2.35 with tax.
Garfield Minus Garfield has quickly become one of my favorite webcomics. The concept is simple, the artist takes original Garfield comics drawn by Jim Davis, then removes Garfield from the panels. The comics take on a totally new and often bizarre meaning when it becomes just Jon Arbuckle talking to himself. After reading the original comics next to the modified panels (in the book), I've come to the conclusion that Garfield just isn't funny, but watching Jon going insane is.

I filled up a cup with some corn, oats and sweet feed and sat down on the front steps. Our ewe noticed me first and she tried to sneak over without getting anyone else's attention. Didn't work, because the ram and the goats saw her leave and ran after her. Soon I was mobbed by two small but heavy sheep and two tiny but agile goats as I tried to hand feed them. The sheep stayed on the ground and crowded me from the front, while the goats ran up the steps and started trying to climb over me to reach the food. It was total chaos, but it's a great way to get the goats used to being handled.
