Most farmers raising sheep for meat raise the larger breeds, like Suffolk (we had one briefly, he weighed over 300 pounds and towered over our Great Dane) or Hampshire.

The super cute sheep we have are Babydoll Southdowns; they're rarely ever raised for meat. They're sometimes raised for wool, but most often kept as pets or lawn mowers.
