I got change from a vending machine recently, and one of the coins was one of the new Lewis & Clark nickels with the Big Head Jefferson.

I saw it and I thought, "What the heck? A Canadian nickel?" No, it's one of those new coins. They not only look odd, but they FEEL odd as well, the edge is raised and kind of sharp.

The Kansas quarter kinda looks Canadian, too. Isn't there a Canadian coin with a buffalo on it as well?

Dunno if you have any Canadians who watch your journal, but last time I looked, the Canadian nickel had a beaver on it. The quarter had an elk. The dime had a sailing ship (the Bluenose I think.) The penny had a maple leaf. No buffalo that I can remember. The front side of all current Canadian coins has Queen Elizabeth II, of course. I believe "Queen of Canada" is still one of her nominal titles.

US nickels had a buffalo on one side and an Indian portrait on the other side back between the two world wars.

The quarter had an elk.

That's actually a caribou, dear boy. ;-)

If you say so. The antlers look too branchy and spiky to me for a caribou. :)
