Not a buffalo, but I was driving along the freeway when a pickup totally caked in mud started tossing chunks of dirt all over the highway. A good sized piece bounced off my hood and then off the windshield. Fortunately it didn't do any serious damage, but it did scratch the paint pretty bad in one spot, and the surface of the windshield seems to be messed up, fortunately very low on the glass.
I got the guy's license plate (or at least as much as I could, it was partially obscured by a tow ball). I called the insurance company, and my deductible will be about $100, though there is a slight chance they might be able to hit up the other guy's insurance for that.
Since I was travelling for work, I wonder if I can get them to pay the deductible.
