I don't think I've ever seen a night as bright as tonight. Even though the sky is clear, you can only see a handful of stars.
A nearly full moon, combined with the uniform coating of white snow everywhere, has made it as bright as early morning, even though the sun won't rise for another 6 hours. The sky is the same deep blue that you see at twilight, and there are well defined shadows under the trees.

Yep. Snow helps, of course, but the full moon can be intense when the air is clear. The absence of light pollution helps too, and where you are now I imagine that is pretty much the case.
Happy new year.
