Hammer time
Mar. 12th, 2009 12:04 amI tried soaking the alfalfa cubes in hot water; learned that wet alfalfa reeks. The sheep ate it, though they didn't seem too enthusiastic about it. It also makes a terrible mess.
But I think I found something better. If I pound on them with a large rubber mallet, it breaks up the compressed cubes and turns them into loose flakes. It's still a bit messy, but it's faster than using a regular hammer. The only problem is that the sheep get curious and have to come over and see what I'm doing. Then they try to help. And by help, I mean, help themselves to some snacks.
