It's a hell of a town

Today in my travels, I visited Springfield, Nebraska, home of the Sarpy County Fair.  Population was 1,450 in the 2000 census.

Former site of W.M. Kieck & Sons grocery store. The opening of a cold storage plant here in 1928 attracted a large crowd. It's currently just a vacant storefront.

about 11 years ago, I helped with the complete gutting and renovation of the grocery store there. You should have seen all the cool stuff we found after we tore up the entire floor.
