I preordered a copy of Windows 7 from Amazon along with a couple Terabyte hard drives.  I'm going to pull the 1/2T drives I'm using currently with Vista and do a clean install.  That way if things don't work out I can just pop the old drives back in and things will be back to the way they were.

Yeah I have Vista when I got my current pc in 2007 which now I think was a mistake. I should have gotten XP.

The tech support person who visits from the central library tells me that Windows 7 performs admirably. He's been running it for about a year.

I've still got XP on three of my pcs, and really don't want the expense of upgrading right now. One of my sons is getting his copy through his college for $30.
