For me it is more "after Thanksgiving but before Christmas Eve" and then takedown is after January 6th.

Here, Tree Day is Christmas Eve and Takedown Day (Loppiainen) is January 6th. But you can put lights and stuff up earlier in December if you like. If someone sees you putting Christmas decorations up on like November 1st they will twat you, then the police will come round and congratulate them for the good call.
