A moth landed on the window of my car, so I snapped a closeup photo.  Click for full size.

I was driving around some back roads trying to get back to the highway when I came across this railroad bridge.  The two center support pylons are stone, the rest are made of wood.  And yes, apparently this bridge is still used.  I thought it was quite photogenic, so I stopped and snapped some photos.

It struck me that we don't have any wooden railway viaducts in the UK, I could only find evidence of one or two in the past. All in cornwall, and all replaced at the beginning of the 20th century.

Ooh, there is still one left. Of course, no trains use it. But it's still there. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/154072

It's amazing what you can find when you go exploring the back-roads and other out-of-the-way places. I like to make sure to have a camera along when I do that, since you never know what you're going to find. :)
