He didn't start the fire, but he wasn't serious enough about putting it out either.

Suppose your house is on fire, and the fire department arrives soon after you call. But once they arrive, they distractedly splash a little bit of water on the parts of your house that aren't burning so much to begin with, offer you a couple of thousand dollars for your car (which was parked on the road and was perfectly OK), and then spend fully half of their time trying to force you to buy boxes of band-aids while the fire rages on...

Well, no you can't blame them for setting your house on fire, but you can legitimately blame them for how bad the fire got.

I'm no fan of the tea party. They are total idiots. But Obama isn't much better.
