It'll probably be a while. I can't really afford one right now (and I'd want to buy a bunch of lenses for it), and I have other things I want to buy first when I do get some money.
Even if I did have the money, I'm still a bit wary. A 30 year old film SLR can take just as good a picture as a brand new one, so buying an expensive model is a long-term investment, but digital cameras improve so quickly that even an expensive model will be totally obsolete in just a few years. I still have the digital camera I got in 1998. It's 0.3 MP.
I do have a film SLR I bought about 20 years ago. I've got 4 lenses and a teleconverter for it, and none of them are compatible with modern DSLRs (Pentax K and KA mounts).
