Because printers don't work without toner!

The main office copier/printer is complaining that it is low on toner. So I go to my office, open the Sacred Cabinet of Printer Supplies, and find it's been ransacked. And, of course, there is no toner for that model machine. None. Someone grabbed the last box and never let me or anyone else know so more could be ordered.

And to make matters worse, the other machine is flipping out and losing print jobs YET AGAIN.

God, I hate Canon printers.

No lock on that cabinet? If disappearing supplies are an issue, it needs a lock and only one or two people with keys.

It's in my office, which has a deadbolt that I lock whenever I leave for the day. Unfortunately, a few others still have the key. The toner might have been removed before they changed the deadbolt; the old lock used the same key as the front door, which everybody had.

I don't anyone stole the toner, they probably just grabbed the box and refilled the printer last time and forgot to let anyone know.

Well, yeah. I didn't mean to imply that someone took toner home to use for their own purposes or to sell or something. Just that maintaining inventory to insure continuous service appears to be an issue. If people are forgetting to notify you or whoever should be notified that they took the last toner cartridge, then the best solution is to make them obtain it through someone who will remember to place the reorder. :)
